Obama-Family-Leaving

First, the Fluke/Limbaugh debacle and now this. Apparently, the First Amendment only applies to Dems. Ladies and gents, I give you the “most transparent administration in U.S. history.”

Yesterday, I posted a story from the Daily Mail on our site Times247 about how 13-year-old Malia Obama, her 12 closest friends and 25 taxpayer-funded Secret Service escorts jet-setted to Oaxaca, Mexico for a week-long springbreak vake. Well, after the story was starting to go viral, we noticed all of our links were starting to die. The Daily Mail, the London Telegraph, the Agence France Presse — all news outlets with the original story started to delete them from the Web. (Important to note here that the only news organizations to cover this story in the States was the liberal Huffington Post. Kudos to them.) No outlet gave an explanation. No redirection. No transparency. Just a sea of 404 error pages.

Today, the White House gave a statement, basically stating it had used thug tactics on silencing the story in the free press.

Kristina Schake, Communications Director to the First Lady, emails to confirm this was a White House effort:

From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.

First off, this story was not about the kid, it was about taxpayer-funded waste in a dying economy. Second, this president flaunts his two daughters out for campaign photo-ops on a consistent basis and even invoked Malia and Sasha’s names during his pathetic attempt to silence Limbaugh and further perpetuate his desperation for votes in the contraception debate. But the most important question here is: How does this administration have the power to silence foreign press in sovereign countries?

This man is the reason I decided to make journalism my career. Freedom of the press is the freedom of information. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING is to be off limits. Keep fighting for the truth, patriots. This year is going to be harder than we thought.

  1. Reblogged this on nebraskaenergyobserver and commented:
Jessica has an interesing, and scary story here. The thing I noticed instantly is that she’s referring to the press in THREE supposedly sovereign countries: Canada, The UK, and France. The most thuggish administration ever. Don’t mess with the king’s kids, they deserve the stuff you can’t, you lowly taxpayer, you, afford.

  2. Pieces like this are why I’m finding it nearly impossible to leave politics, which has been my goal for several months now. I’ve been a conservative blogger since 2008, and though I’ve tried to let go of politics because I’m literally–and I mean literally– surrounded by liberal fiends who pretend to be my friends but say despicable things to me or about me online. I’m just too thin skinned, I guess. But yours is the second essay I’ve read today that has caused the political bug to bite me HARD. Keep doing what you do, and I’ll keep deciding what I’ll do. I reposted this on facebook, and I’ll be writing my first blog piece tonight at http://www.friendlyneighborhoodrepublican.blogspot.com. Thanks for this.

  3. Wondering if anyone remembers anything similar with the Bush daughters – large secret service contingents shepherding them on vacations? 13 and needing to be on spring break is strange in itself.

  4. “Freedom of the press is the freedom of information.”

Unfortunately the majority of “the mainstream press” IS controlled – maybe not in the same way as the USSR days . . . yet.

This year is going to be tough – the 2012 election will be the most important of our lifetime. Sadly, it’s going to be more like a salvage operation. So much damage already done – but minor compared to what the thug dictator wannabe has in store for a 2nd term. (And he’ll bypass Congress to do what he wants – Well, he’s already doing it.)

  5. Absolutely unbelievable, but no doubt sadly true! Jessica, you have obviously been blessed with many gifts, with one being outstanding writing skills — that you have put to such good use to inform, educate and most important, motivate. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insight with all of us! Keep up the great fight …

  6. smoke and mirrors
what is good for the goose is good for the gander
redundant old sayings but they apply
    the os are so 2faced
they will have to cleanse, dehydrate, fumigate, and literally clorox the Wh when they leave finally
we just hope they dont steal everything like the clintons and crew did

  7. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, the Word of God was only given to Ancient Israel, whom today is the white Christains nations that havent fell to the antichrist yet.

  8. I couldn’t agree more. And the King said that he would have the most transparent administration in history. I hope that more people are starting to see what this government is actually doing.

  9. So the story about scrubbing the original story has been…scrubbed? You can’t make this stuff up. Does this remind anyone else of the opening credits to “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”?
Those responsible for sacking the Llama trainers, have been sacked.

  10. All our freedoms are disappearing. We can only hope and pray that this clown gets voted out in November. I noticed when I googled his name yesterday there was nothing negative at all like the day before.

  11. Do you even know what “thug tactics” actually are in a literal sense, or do you have the hyperbole meter on high at all times? Give me a break.

  12. Great answer Jessica and excellent article! Your writing is concise and to the point – a pleasure to read. Keep up the good work!

And to “AntiStuff” above – why don’t you just go back to putting on your rose-colored glasses and sticking your head in the sand like you prefer to do anyway? Concerned American adults are trying to save this country from the train wreck you created, and you ignoring the problems and whining about how everything is OK is not only nonconstructive but you’re blocking progress. Either help or get out of the way!

    • “antistuff” created the American deficit? That’s funny, and I thought it was the Bush administration!

I suppose it’s easier to blame all of your worries on the ‘other’, that way you have to take less responsibility!

  13. Do you think there are any circumstances whereby the media has a responsibility not to disseminate information which could directly lead to a person being targeted by those who would cause them harm?
